Terms of Service

The use of the Super Copy Editors website and the contracting of our services are both an acknowledgment and an acceptance of our terms of service as put forth in this document.

1. Definitions

Super Copy Editors (“we,” “our,” “us,” or “the service”)—we provide copy editing and proofreading services via the SuperCopyEditors.com website.

Client (or “user”)—any person or organization that visits the website or submits material for copy editing and proofreading services via our website or by phone or email.

Services—collectively, proofreading, copy editing, or other fee-based document alterations provided by us.

2. Confidentiality, privacy, ownership, and copyright of material

Super Copy Editors strives to provide a secure and reliable copy editing and proofreading service to our clients.

We take your privacy very seriously. We will never disclose to an unaffiliated third party any identifying personal information about our clients or their work, in part or in whole, unless required to do so by law. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

All material submitted to Super Copy Editors remains the intellectual property of the original author, who retains all rights and privileges granted by all applicable copyright laws. We will never share or reproduce any work, in part or in its entirety, submitted to us without the express, written consent of the original author, except when required by law.

3. Content of submitted or created materials

We adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct. Consequently, we advise clients that copyright infringement and plagiarism are serious offenses. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services on documents that are discovered to contain copyrighted or plagiarized materials.

We accept no liability or responsibility for content contained in client documents, including but not limited to misleading statements, defamatory remarks, or the infringement of any copyright laws. Furthermore, by contracting the services of Super Copy Editors, the client hereby indemnifies us from any resultant legal action taken in response to the content of the document submitted for services.

The client agrees to review all changes made by us. This responsibility constitutes an acceptance of our services delivered and an acknowledgment that Super Copy Editors is not responsible or liable for the content of the material.

Users are hereby prohibited from posting or transmitting to the site any virus-infected, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or other material that would violate any law.

4. Description of services

Super Copy Editors provides comprehensive professional copy editing and proofreading services. Texts are checked for proper grammar as well as effective sentence structure, diction, and flow. We strive to ensure that texts are free of common errors such as colloquial language, nonparallel sentence structure, or improper subject-verb agreement.

5. Quality

The Super Copy Editors team seeks to provide complete satisfaction to our clients. We strive to service all documents to a high and exacting standard. If you are not 100% satisfied with our work, for any reason at all, within 10 days of receiving it from us, we will have another editor from Super Copy Editors read the document again, for no extra charge.

Satisfaction Guarantee:

“If you have any questions or concerns about your edited document, please know that we are always available to discuss these with you. We are happy to explain every decision we have made. If you are still not satisfied with the work of an editor, we will send your document to another editor within our company for a second round of proofing done to your standards, at no extra cost to you.”

The client is responsible for reviewing the serviced material upon completion and contacting Super Copy Editors within 10 days should any errors be discovered. We are not obligated to refund the cost of the services, or any part of the cost of the services, if a completed document is discovered to be less than perfect.

On-Time Guarantee:

“We will complete your project on or before the agreed-upon time, or you do not have to pay us for that project. Note: If your project is large and we split it into milestones (for example, ‘the first 10 chapters by Monday at 3 p.m.’), you do not have to pay us for any milestone that we did not complete on time.”

Of course, there are some exclusions: technical problems out of our control (see #11 below) and acts of God.

We are not liable for incidental, indirect, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including the cost of hiring another editing service, printing or reprinting charges, lost revenues or profits, loss of business, or loss of data related to these services. This exemption applies to any claim, loss, or injury based on errors or omissions, interruptions, or any other inaccuracies in an edited client document.

SUPER COPY EDITORS MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE OPERATION OF THIS WEBSITE OR THE INFORMATION, CONTENT, SERVICES, MATERIALS, OR PRODUCTS INCLUDED ON THIS SITE. CUSTOMERS AGREE THAT THE USE OF THIS SITE AND OUR SERVICES IS AT THEIR SOLE RISK.

If any of the provisions of this section are held to be void or unenforceable, such provisions shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and replaced with a valid provision that best embodies the intent of these terms of service.

6. Refusal of service

Super Copy Editors reserves the right to refuse or cancel services to any client for any reason. If a cancellation is initiated by us, which is extraordinarily rare, the client shall be entitled to a refund for the portion of services that were not yet completed by us.

7. Termination of service and contractual obligations

In particular, Super Copy Editors reserves the right to terminate all services and contractual obligations with a client in the event of the client violating any of the terms of service contained herein.

A contract between the client and Super Copy Editors commences as soon as payment for the services is received by us. Receipt of payment by Super Copy Editors is official confirmation that the client is confirming that the work is to commence.

A client may cancel the services at any time before the attempted delivery of completed materials by Super Copy Editors via email, phone, or otherwise. Refund of payment in this case is at our sole discretion and may be subject to fees, including but not limited to bank and transfer fees, processing fees, administration fees, editor costs, and overhead costs.

The client is responsible for selecting the desired level of services at the time of submitting a project and providing an accurate word count of the submitted materials. The description of services provided on our website and the accurate word count provided by the client, in conjunction with these terms of service, constitute the statement of work. The client assumes all responsibility for any problems, errors, issues, as well as legal liability resulting from an incorrect statement of work.

Super Copy Editors reserves the right to cancel services to any client where a virus is suspected in submitted documents. In this case, a refund will be issued less any associated fees, including but not limited to bank and transfer fees, processing fees, administration fees, editor costs, and overhead costs.

8. Accuracy of client information

Clients are responsible for providing true and accurate information with respect to their identifying personal and contact information. Failure to provide correct and accurate information can result in incomplete or interrupted services. The client assumes all responsibility for any problems, errors, issues, and legal liability resulting from such false information. We are not obligated to provide the client with a refund in the event that problems with our services have arisen as a direct result of inaccurate client information.

9. Financial fraud or theft

Our credit card payment processing is handled by Stripe, Quickbooks Payments, and PayPal. We never see any client’s private payment details because this data is held only on the payment processor’s secure servers. Stripe, for example, has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

Super Copy Editors is not liable or responsible for the fraudulent use of any payment method, including but not limited to credit cards that may be used to purchase our services.

10. Ownership and copyright of business names and website content

The name “Super Copy Editors” and SuperCopyEditors.com are protected by international copyright and trademark law. These names and website content cannot be copied, reproduced, used, republished, transmitted, printed, modified, or framed without our express permission.

11. Technical disclaimer

We are not liable or responsible for service delays resulting in unforeseen circumstances such as technical problems including server or connection issues that are beyond our control. We will make every effort to meet deadlines and communicate with clients in the case of technical problems.

We also are not liable or responsible for any damage to computer hardware or software arising from the distribution of a computer virus through the use of our website or system.

12. Indemnification

The client agrees to indemnify and hold Super Copy Editors LLC, founder Dave Baker, and anyone associated with our company and affiliates harmless for any claim or demand, including reasonable fees and costs for the service of an attorney, or as may be made by any third party due to or arising from use of the site or our services, or violation of the terms of service by the client, or infringement or any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity by the client.

Super Copy Editors gives no assurances or warranty regarding the accuracy, currency, or applicability of any of the website contents in relation to specific situations and particular circumstances, and disclaims all liability in respect of such information.

13. Jurisdiction

The service is governed by the laws of the state of New York in the United States of America, and by accepting these terms of service the client submits to the jurisdiction of the courts in Kings County, New York.

14. Severability

Wherever possible, each provision of this terms of service document shall be interpreted in such manner as to be effective and valid under applicable law, but if any provision of this document shall be prohibited by or invalid under applicable laws, such provision shall be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or invalidity, without invalidating the remainder of such provision or the remaining provisions of this document.

15. Modification of terms of service

The terms of service contained herein may be modified, amended, altered, or revoked at any time, for any reason, and without notice.
