Privacy Policy

We wrote this document to let you know how important your privacy is to us at Super Copy Editors LLC. We also hope it shows that we truly value transparency and openness. Please read this page carefully before using our site further.

Below, we explain exactly what information we collect from you, how we use that information, how long we keep it, and what choices you have about it.

By continuing to use, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

What Personal Information We Collect, How We Collect It, and What We Do With It

1. Technical data

First of all, when you visit, even for the very first time, we may automatically log certain information about your computer hardware and software. This information can include your IP address, web browser type, domain names, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is used for the operation of our service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of our website. To learn more about what information your device makes available to us, please also check the policies of your device manufacturer or software provider.

Your browser most likely offers a way to view websites more anonymously. For example, Incognito Mode in Google Chrome allows you to browse the web without recording webpages and files in your browser history. Cookies are deleted after you’ve closed all of your Incognito windows and tabs, and your bookmarks and settings are stored until you delete them. Learn more about cookies below.

2. Aggregated analytical data

We also keep track of the pages our users visit to determine which of our pages and services are the most popular. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. It gathers information that allows us to understand interactions with our website and ultimately refine that experience to better serve you. We are not able to see any data that personally identifies you, such as a name, email address, or billing information. You can opt out here.

We also use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g., how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.), and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

For further details, please see the “about Hotjar” section of Hotjar’s support site and the Hotjar privacy policy.

3. Social sharing data

We use some social sharing plugins, which allow you to share certain pages of our website on social media. These plugins place cookies so that you can correctly view how many times a page has been shared.

4. Contact data

If you choose to leave a comment beneath one of our articles, you share your email address with us. We use a third-party comment-sharing plugin from WordPress, which may create a profile for you. Your email address is never shown publicly on unless you share it in a public comment, which we strongly advise against doing.

Rest assured, you won’t ever get any spammy emails from us just because you leave a comment on our site, and we’ll never sell or distribute your email address. Your email address remains private—period.

5. Communications and marketing data

  • If you ever email us directly or reply to one of our emails, we will keep the content of your message, your email address, and your contact information to respond to your request. We will delete all of this information upon your request.
  • If you have used our contact form, our website will generate metadata associated with the communications, such as your IP address. That data is automatically deleted from our servers after 90 days, and we will also delete all of this information upon your request.
  • If you have used our copy editor job application form, our website will generate metadata associated with the communications, such as your IP address. That data is automatically deleted from our servers after one year, and we will also delete all of this information upon your request.
  • If you opt in to our emails by requesting our free guide “8 Mistakes to Avoid When Hiring a Proofreading Service,” we keep your email address on file so that we can send you a few follow-up emails. We use a third-party email service called MailChimp. When you sign up through one of the signup forms on our site, your email address, IP address, and other information are sent securely to MailChimp for the purposes of Super Copy Editors sending you emails and tracking when we have sent you emails, whether or not you have opened those emails, and whether or not you have clicked any links in our emails. You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email you receive from Super Copy Editors, or by simply replying to any email and asking us to unsubscribe you. For more, see the MailChimp Privacy Policy

We won’t ever email you to ask for your password or other account information. If you receive such an email, please send it to us so we can investigate.

6. Transaction data

Finally, if you purchase our services, we may collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete the purchase transaction. The most sensitive data (such as your credit card information) is never seen or stored by us; we use third-party payment processing services, such as PayPal and Stripe, that have stringent security protocols.

7. Other data

Information From Third Parties: We occasionally receive information about you from third parties—for example, analytics providers such as Google, advertising networks such as Facebook or LinkedIn, and search information providers such as Google Ads.

Online Advertising: We use Google Ads remarketing to advertise our services across the internet. Ads remarketing will display relevant ads tailored to you based on what parts of our website you have viewed by placing a cookie on your machine. This cookie does not identify you or give access to your computer. The cookie is used to say “This person visited this page, so show them ads relating to that page” or“This person already received a quote from Super Copy Editors, so do not show them these ads again.” Google Ads remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and display only ads that are relevant to you.

If you do not wish to participate in our Google Ads remarketing, you may opt out of Google’s use of cookies or device identifiers by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. Alternatively, you may visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or control the use of device identifiers by using your device’s settings.

We Use Cookies

As mentioned above, our website—like practically every other website in existence—does use cookies to help personalize your online experience. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can be read only by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

For more detailed information about how we use cookies, please review the “Use of Cookies” section below.

Third-Party Embeds

Some of the content on is not hosted by us. These “embeds” are hosted by a third party and embedded in our website. For example: YouTube videos and Instagram posts that appear within a page of our content. These files send data to the hosted site just as if you were visiting that site directly. Super Copy Editors does not control what data third parties collect in cases like this, or what they will do with it. So, third-party embeds on our site are not covered by this Privacy Policy. They are covered by the privacy policy of the third-party service.

Non-Personal Information

We share or disclose non-personal data, such as aggregated information like the total number of times people viewed an article on our site or the number of people who clicked on a particular link.

Security of Your Personal Information secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We use encryption (HTTPS/TLS) to protect data transmitted to and from our site. However, no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee security. You use our site and services at your own risk.

If you leave a comment on our site, we encourage you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from so that you can understand how those websites collect, use, and share your information. We are not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites other than our own.

We will never sell or distribute any personal or contact information we collect about you. We do not sell, rent, or lease our customer lists to third parties.

Super Copy Editors will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on us; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; and (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.

We use third-party vendors and hosting partners, such as Siteground and Cloudflare, for hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology we need to run our site. When you use or interact with any of our services, you consent to the data processing, sharing, transferring, and uses of your information as outlined in this Privacy Policy. Regardless of the country where you reside, you authorize us to transfer, process, store, and use your information in countries other than your own in accordance with this Privacy Policy and to provide you with services. Some of these countries may not have the same data protection safeguards as the country where you reside.

Although we are a U.S.-based website intended for users located in the United States, may process information related to individuals who are in the EU/European Economic Area. We may transfer that information from the EU/EEA to the United States or any other country where we have facilities. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of information outside of your country.

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you can request access to the information we hold about you. We’ll usually share this with you within 30 days of you asking us for it. The first time is free, and additional requests may incur a reasonable processing fee. You may also request modification or deletion of your personal data.

Use of Cookies

One way that we collect information from you is through the use of cookies. When you go online, you use a program called a “browser” (like Apple Safari or Google Chrome). Most websites store a small amount of text in the browser—and that text is called a “cookie.”

Cookies provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on.

We use cookies to make our website better. For example, these cookies tell us how many people use a certain feature and how popular it is.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of our website. Most browsers let you block “third-party cookies,” which are cookies from sites other than the one you’re visiting.

Our website may also use small pieces of software code called “web beacons” (“pixel tags”) to collect anonymous and aggregate data, such as counting page views or advertising responses. A web beacon is an electronic image constructed from a single-pixel or clear GIF. Web beacons can recognize certain types of information, such as your IP address, cookie number, time and date of a page view, and description of the page where the web beacon is placed. You may render some web beacons unusable if you choose to reject their associated cookies.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information only so long as we need it to provide our services to you and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. This is also the case for anyone we share your information with and who carries out services on our behalf. When we no longer need to use your information and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we’ll either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it so that we can’t identify you.
